OMG AMAZING NEWS!!!!

January 16, 2011
We will likely bring Tasha home tomorrow or Tuesday!!!

The vet called today and said there is no real reason she can't wait her surgery out at home!! (It's being done at a specialist office anyways....) So she cant wait for her trip to the orthopedic surgeon here!!!   You cannot believe how excited we are. She absolutely has to be confined, so we have a small little room downstairs in our house that we call the toy room. It has a carpet that covers almost the whole floor (Part of our concern with bringing her here is our wood floors and slipping...) so we are going to make it her room. She can be out with us, and will have to be in there when we aren't with her. I haven't figured out what to do when no one is home yet, as I know she'll go nuts if I close the door, and will try and knock a gate down if Im not here....so I might have to invest in a crate. She has never been crated in her life, but has now become accustomed to being in a cage.....so maybe it will work.

Her surgery is going to be Feb 3rd, so we still have our target date of raising the money by feb 1st. If we somehow go over the amount we need, it will all go towards her other vet bill, which is still astronomically high.

Im so excited, and we wish we could personally Thank each and everyone of you who have contributed to Tasha and her recovery, in one way or another.

Tasha's hip surgery

January 14, 2011
So - we are raising funds for the last leg of our journey!!!!

It's so exciting seeing her walk around the animal hospital - even though it is limited. She was also allowed to go out and pee yesterday and today, which would be the first time she was outside since her accident. I got to walk her today and she just stood in the sunshine, sniffing the air. Then she tried to play in the snow, so I had to cut that walk short. There was also a man at the door (it was locked since she was roaming the ...

February 1st, Maybe?

January 12, 2011
Well - thats our target date.

And Im sorry Ive slacked. Life has been craz with the Holidays so I took a bit of a break.

Tasha had her Xrays done. The news - not great but ok. Her pelvis is healed well. Not in perfect line like he wanted but that was to be expected since there was no plate. But it's sturdy in there and he said he is not unhappy. Her hip, however, is another story. Her hip did not heal well. He said it almost looks worse, because we can't keep her still. I will post some xray ...

Some new info...

December 10, 2010
Slacker I am....

Ive just been beyond busy. Life never seems to stop and never seems to get easier.

Tasha has made it to the 6 weeks mark. Her Xrays havent been taken yet. I asked him why and he said the earliest you will see bone on an xray is 5-6 weeks past accident/procedures so he wants to be certain enough time has lapsed. Its slightly different than what he was saying before and I guess thats because he feels she may need surgery on her hip. He wants to hold off a little longer, because ...

Monday - and almost December!

November 29, 2010
I can't believe how time is flying by!!! Tasha will be 5 weeks post accident tomorrow. The Dr has not done the xrays just yet. Since she is in a cage, he said he wants to wait until a full 6 weeks to check her progress, as we know she's been moving around a lot which may slow things. He has lowered her dose of pain meds, since she was getting a bit hard to handle (she is SO ready to come out of the cage!!) but it doesn't really seem to affect her mych. She is still as active and happy as ever...

A little overdue...

November 21, 2010
Its Sunday, and Im sorry for the delay. Life has been so stressful lately, and having Tasha gone is just not helping.

Tasha is doing great. I was so afraid for her a hew days ago, however, when we had a big thunder storm roll through. Tasha is deathly afraid of thunder and fire works. The storm woke me around 4am. I called the vet around 4:30 leaving a message kletting him know I was afraid for her. He called me back at 5am, saying he got the message and he didn't think she could hurt herself...

GAHHHH I erased it all...

3 weeks ago today was her accident. Her sentence is approx halfway done!!

They really have been awesome to her. I couldnt ask for any better care of my dog and Im a little jealous of how much she loves them now :)

I haven't gotten to sped much time with Tash over the last few days due to no car. But I did ask on Sunday, even though they are closed, if I could come and help care for her. She has been doing well, and she did gret on Sunday for almost our whole visit. Then...

Happy Veterans Day!!

November 11, 2010

I think it ate a post? Or could I really have slacked that much?!

Sorry guys, I would have swore to a post earlier this week...anyways

Tasha is doing quite well. She tried to bolt the other morning, I am told, when they opened her cage. Not good, since she can't really walk still and can certainly reinjur herself easily. Coupled with the tiled floor - it wouldn't have been good. Luckily, the tech sat with her until more help arrived (from the boarding area...). She really really wants out. She ...

Saturday afternoon

November 6, 2010

Daily posting is a bit tough, so I will likely be switching to every other day, unless there is something grand to report. We do have some GOOD news though!!  Yesterday morning, the vet had positioned Tasha into a standing position, and she maintained it on her own. So, as he sat her down, he said its a start but as I sit her down, I can feel her bones (EWWW) still shifting, so we don't want her to do it much. Just wanted her to stretch her legs. I asked if she was able to on her own yet and ...

Thurdsay

November 5, 2010
Well - no news is good news I suppose....Tasha is doing really well. I didn't visit her today because after I left yesterday she refused her food and was wickedly depressed. It was hard not going to see her but I know she is in the best of hands. I put her food bowl away today. I know she will be back, but it was still so sad. The cats were using the water dish, but it was just hard looking at them.

I am going to see her tomorrow morning. I have all sorts of leftovers and goodies for her. I d...
